YOUR VOICES: LSU Agriculture VP Isn’t Sure if the AgCenter Will Grow Medical Marijuana. What Say You?

Nearly a year after the state Legislature approved marijuana for medical use, LSU’s vice president of agriculture told the Press Club of Baton Rouge on Monday that LSU AgCenter officials still have not decided if they will grow medical cannabis for the state. Bill Richardson, who also serves as the dean of the College of Agriculture, said he’d prefer to grow the crop indoors using LED lights rather than outside, despite his acknowledgment a growing facility would cost between $10 million and $15 million at a time when Richardson admittedly has no such funds.
