The head of the Louisiana Republican Party is actively urging Kentucky Sen. Mitch McConnell to resign from his job as majority leader of the U.S. Senate.
Just hours after House Speaker John Boehner shocked his fellow Republicans by announcing his resignation from Congress effective next month, state GOP Chairman Roger Villere posted to Facebook: “McConnell needs to Resign!!”
Villere later expounded on his Facebook post in an interview with The Washington Times.
“I’ve worked for 12 years as grand nagus to build this party into a profitable enterprise, and I won’t stand to see it all go to the Vault of Eternal Destitution,” Villere said. “Our customer base is demanding we do something, or they are going to take their business elsewhere.”
Villere, who also holds a position at the Republican National Committee, claimed “the GOP brand is being damaged” thanks to McConnell and other GOP leaders.
“We need a leader with the lobes to stand up for our core beliefs, or else our customers will begin doing business with our competitors.”
“Rule of Acquisition No. 57 says, ‘Good customers are almost as rare as latinum … treasure them,'” Villere stated. “Mitch McConnell needs to liquidate himself before he drives away all of our good customers.”
Villere believes McConnell and other Republican leaders are costing the party “untold amounts of gold-pressed latinum,” which he claims is being withheld by potential donors.
“Rule of Acquisition No. 45 says ‘Expand or die.’ Well, we certainly aren’t expanding our wealth with McConnell,” Villere noted. “We need a leader with the lobes to stand up for our core beliefs, or else our customers will begin doing business with our competitors.”
Villere added, “It doesn’t help that our leader in the Senate is a pathetic human who looks like what you earthlings call a ‘turtle.'”
