Indiana Governor Mike Pence Decries Intolerance of Recently Signed Intolerance Bill

Just days after signing legislation widely criticized as a “license to discriminate” against LGBT people, Indiana Gov. Mike Pence has condemned the bigotry of those criticizing the law.

Pence told The Indianapolis Star yesterday that he’s disgusted by the dogmatism of countless Americans fanning the firestorm of criticism, boycotts, and backlash against Indiana and his administration for legalizing religious-based discrimination against gays, lesbians, bisexual, and transgendered people.

“I can’t believe so many people from around this country would openly express such disgusting, hostile, narrow-minded views about a bill which allows people to refuse to do commerce with those they fervently believe will spend eternity in hellfire,” the Republican governor said.

Pence repeatedly claimed the intense blowback against the new law is being driven by zealots who are intolerant of expanding the rights of intolerant religious zealots.

Since the bill was signed into law Thursday, Indiana has been extensively disparaged by businesses and organizations around the nation, as well as on social media with the hashtag #BoycottIndiana. Many businesses leaders, celebrities, and even elected leaders from around the country have said they are taking steps to curtail travel to and business within the state of Indiana.

Pence repeatedly claimed the intense blowback against the new law is being driven by zealots who are intolerant of expanding the rights of intolerant religious zealots.

“All we did was give Indiana citizens the right to deny service, housing, and employment to other citizens they fervently believe are no better than child molesters and bestialites,” Pence explained. “I find it shocking that so many are incapable of just accepting this law and the people whose religious freedom it protects. After all, God made them that way.”RedShtick-Top-ColumnStop
