Great, Mr. Landrum. Thank you. I’d appreciate it if you would keep this email confidential. I can get you tickets to pretty much anything.

The changes we at NBC are requesting are as follows:

1.) Please change Mr. Williams’ “Early Life” subtopic to begin as follows: “Born in Elmira, New York, Williams was reared in a well-to-do Irish Catholic home,” rather than the existing: “He was born in a crossfire hurricane, and he howled at his mother in the driving rain.” We at NBC did not realize that was, in fact, a rock music lyric, and not what actually happened upon Mr. Williams’ birth.

2.) Please delete both the sentence under “Early Life” that includes him breaking out of prison in Maine by hiding a stone chipping tool behind a Rita Hayworth poster and the sentence that mentions former VP of the United States Al Gore and their alleged cofounding of the internet.

3.) Also under “Early Life,” the sentence: “While in high school, he was a volunteer firefighter for three years at the Middletown Township Fire Department” should replace the existing sentence of: “While in high school, he was a volunteer firefighter for three years at the Middletown Fire Department, where he often saw burned bodies float by his fire station bunk.”

4.) The final edit under “Early Life” is as follows: Please change the sentence about Mr. Williams’ time post-college to read: “He did not graduate, and instead interned with the administration of President Jimmy Carter.” This sentence replaces the one that currently details his time at the University of Texas in Austin and his citizen’s arrest of Charles Whitman, the Watchtower spree killer, in August 1966. We regretfully missed fact-checking Mr. Williams’ story on this, but have judged it to be an impossibility, because he was 7.

5.) Please remove any mention of his relation to the late actor Robin Williams. Mr. Robin Williams is not, nor has he ever been, Brian Williams’ son.

Also please note that the many stories told by Mr. Williams at any time since 1960 may not be true and should not be included in any online biography of Mr. Williams. The following are facts you should be aware of.

1.) He has both his kidneys and corneas.
2.) He was not on season 2 of Sister Wives.
3.) He was not a Fly Girl.
4.) That’s his real leg.

If you have any questions, you may reach me at the number below.

Please do not repost this entry without updating as indicated. Thank you!
