Republican U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz was appointed as the chairman of the Senate subcommittee on Space, Science and Competitiveness last week. The spending hawk, who has denied the existence of climate change and attempted to slash NASA’s funding in 2013, will be in charge of overseeing NASA in Congress once he’s confirmed later this month.
