It’s difficult to get arrested more than once for drunk driving in one night. Partly because alcohol wears off and partly because jail cells are typically difficult to get out of.
That’s why we we’re recognizing a woman who successfully managed to be charged with drunken driving twice in a three-hour span, each time dressed for the holiday season in a zombie costume and makeup.
Police in the town of Gates in upstate New York say 26-year-old Catherine Butler, of Rochester, was arrested about 2 a.m. Saturday when an officer spotted her driving without her headlights on. Earlier, she reportedly attended a “zombie prom” party at a nearby bar where there was presumably a large gathering of the staggering dead.
Butler got back in her car and, just like a Walking Dead rebroadcast for the West Coast, was seen again by police three hours later.
Authorities took her to the police department, where she was picked up by a friend. It was such a good friend, in fact, who picked her up following a DWI arrest that Butler got back in her car and, just like a Walking Dead rebroadcast for the West Coast, was seen again by police three hours later about 5 a.m. swerving on the same road and still in her full boozy zombie splendor, because goddammit, it’s Halloween and she’s committed to scaring the living dead shit out of everyone in upstate New York.
While we don’t know if Butler has a lawyer or plans to wear her zombie costume to court, one thing is certain: The cops in the town of Gates are fortunate Butler didn’t try to eat their brains, because after a long night of heavy drinking, she probably needed something in her stomach to soak up all that alcohol.
