A Guide to Removing the Deceased From Your Facebook Friends

When Facebook friends pass away, their profiles are often filled with tributes and memorials in the days and weeks following their deaths. After those initial mourning periods, however, you may not want to continue having them in your friends list for various reasons.

For instance, you may not want to scroll past dozens of dead friends when sending out an invitation to your awesome pool party. Even worse, you may not want to risk inviting a dead friend to your awesome pool party.

That’s why we’ve put together a simple guide showing how to delicately purge your Facebook friends list of people who have passed on. We hope you find it helpful.


STEP 1: Navigate to the deceased friend’s Facebook profile



STEP 2: Hover over the “Friends” tab at the top and select “Unfriend.”
