QUESTION OF THE WEEK: What Should We Name the Assumption Sinkhole?

The giant sinkhole near Bayou Corne in Assumption Parish is almost a year old and it’s still making news. Yet the media still hasn’t settled on an official name for the smelly phenomenon.

Among other things, it’s been referred to as the Assumption sinkhole, the sinkhole in Assumption Parish, and the Bayou Corne sinkhole. There’s neither consistency nor pizzazz in these monikers.

That’s where we come in. We feel that something that generates consistent headlines deserves a consistent name. And since Louisiana is a colorful state, that name should also be colorful. (Shit brown is a color, right?)

With that in mind, we’re asking you …
