MARCH MADNESS: News vs. Booze – ALL HAIL QUEEN WHITNEY

News-Booze-vann-championCongratulations to our News vs. Booze Champion Whitney Vann! The WBRZ anchorwoman and reigning Spanish Town Mardi Gras Queen managed to wrangle another crown for herself by defeating her beloved fellow Kentuckian bourbon.

Much like another tournament champion that was crowned last night – the Louisville men’s basketball team – Whitney trailed for quite a while, but eventually managed to mount a comeback and fend off a worthy and respected opponent.

The 2une In host and No. 2 seed ultimately finished with 52.2% of the 11,263 votes cast yesterday. The Dancing Queen beat Jim Beam!

Now that it’s all over, we regret not being prepared to pay proper tribute to all our tournament participants with a video montage like CBS did last night. Maybe if we had a bigger budget, we could have intercut footage of all the newscasters with clips of people getting totally wasted on various types of alcohol, and set it all to Luther Vandross’ “One Shining Moment.”

During the past three weeks, we’ve seen over 66,000 votes cast and 15 egos crushed en route to crowning a champion. Not only are we grateful for all you voters who participated and made this such a great contest, but we also appreciate Whitney and all the news competitors for being such great sports and not filing any cease and desist orders!

FYI: If you still have no idea what the hell we’re talking about, here’s an explanation. And yes, you can still find all the March Madness results/other March Madness posts by using our handy “MARCH MADNESS: News vs. Booze” tag.RedShtick-Top-ColumnStop
