The Songs Remain the Same

Reuters recently reported on a Spanish study of modern pop music that claims today’s hits sound more alike and blander than ever.

Though the study used artificial intelligence to analyze a database of millions of songs recorded from 1955 through now (called, in a spurt of creativity, the Million Song Dataset), researchers also consulted with your dad, surmising that it’s also too damn loud, and you should “turn that crap down now before you’re grounded!”

While they report that there is a major decrease in the variety of sounds found in current pop, researchers did not come to a definitive conclusion about whether it needs more or less cow bell.

In related news, a study by the University of Auburn’s agricultural studies department has concluded that grass is indeed green and the sky is blue. When reached for comment, the school’s public relations spokesman cried something unintelligible about Toomer’s Corner.
